MAYAN CALENDAR

We are living at a time of accelerated change on Earth. We are experiencing quantum advances in every sphere of human activity. Nuclear physics research and space exploration are expanding more quickly than we can keep up with. Our planet is growing smaller every minute with advances in communication technology. The speed and intensity of human evolution is unprecedented in human history.
And we are all feeling a growing awareness of our responsibility to care for our planet home. You may be affected by the ‘green revolution’ and focus on health, healing and sustainable living, particularly for industrialized countries. This global awakening is calling us to remember and reconnect with ancient wisdom to heal ourselves and bring balance to the Earth.
The Mayan Calendar describes cycles of human evolution that are drawing to a close within our lifetime. Winter Solstice, December 21, 2012 marks the end of a grand astrological cycle. This 26,000 year-cycle marks the movement of our solar system around the center of the galaxy. This Precession of the Equinoxes was known by ancient cultures from East and West - the Tibetans, Egyptians, Summerians, Cherokees, Hopi and the Mayans. We will also be moving into a new 5,125-year creation cycle, called by some the Fifth World Age – the Age of Center; the Hopi call it the Age of Peace.
The Classic Maya (435-830 AD) were master astronomers and mathematicians. They left a legacy of precise calendrical computations inscribed in their stele and architecture and described in a few surviving books. They outlined a plan for creation that spans billions of years and will be complete by 2012. Knowing this plan can help each of us prepare for the changes that lie ahead.
