In Memory of Steve

“Just an everyday mystic” Steve called himself.  Unfailingly humble, Steve was a skilled craftsman who used his hands as conduits for Spirit. A shaman, healer and sage, Steve summoned the archetypal energies of Creation into his metal art for the purposes of spiritual evolution, empowerment and healing.

The beautifully detailed jewelry and metal objects he created to be sacred talismans are part of his legacy.  Steve brought clarity, purity and the highest intentions to each piece and to his life.

Though in our lives for a brief time, Steve touched each of us deeply and profoundly with his presence and wisdom.  Laurel Byrne was part of the 2010 Newfoundland Sacred Earth Tour.  On the eve of Steve’s passing she wrote this...

Dear Steve,

I have but a few memories in the time we spent together so they carry a poignancy that much sweeter.  …learning from you, receiving from you, and observing how you held the space so sacred for us all - fills me with joy to remember.  Watching as you tried so valiantly to keep all of us (twelve) women on track was pretty hilarious - like herding cats – basically impossible!  And how you held the space for our, sometimes funny, sometimes serious, ceremonies - did you think they would never end!?  Seeing you open sacred space – teaching us the many ways of calling in the directions – holding the energy of the mountains – all so blessed.  Thank you for bringing in your sacred spirit and talking with us from your generous, healing heart – whether during a healing session, at our “kitchen party” over a Guinness, during a meal, or on a walk. I send you much love and light as you leave this Earth and return to the Mother and the Father and your dear, precious Mountains. You will be missed and never forgotten.

A poem by Dr. Peter Jepson-Young that Laurel shared during the Tour and dedicated to Steve

I accept and absorb all the strength of the earth
to keep my body hard and strong

I accept and absorb all the energy of the sun
to keep my mind sharp and bright

I accept and absorb all the life force of the ocean
to cleanse my body and bring me life

I accept and absorb all the power of the wind
to cleanse my spirit and bring me life

I accept and absorb all the mystery of the heavens
for I am a port of the vast unknown

I believe God to be all these elements
and the force that unites them

And from these elements I have come
and to these elements I shall return.

But the energy that is me will not be lost.
