The Season Of Majik And Mystery

On the public stage here in North America as the US Elections are underway, we also see the Indigenous Tribes coming together around Standing Rock in a worldwide movement of protection for the Earth and her Waters. It’s all happening at a most auspicious time and season under a Scorpio New Moon that marks the beginning of the Celtic New Year. It’s historically a time to rest and regenerate, receive the blessings of our Ancestors, and contemplate life and death, the great cycles of renewal.

All Hallows Day or All Saints Day has ancient roots. Samhain festival was the biggest and most significant holiday of the Celtic year. The Celts believed that at the this dark time of the cycle more so than any other time of the year, the ghosts of the dead were able to mingle with the living. The thinning of the veils allowed the souls of those who had died during the year to more easily travel into the spirit world and to communicate with the living. People gathered in celebration, sacrificed animals, fruits, and vegetables from the bounty of harvest. They also lit bonfires in honor of the dead, to aid them on their journey.

So this moon cycle is a time to remember those who have come before us, to pray for their healing. We are here today because of everything our Ancestors experienced and learned that allowed them to survive and the lineage to continue. When free and at peace in the spirit worlds the Ancient Ones can support us here in the land of the living. And we have never needed their wisdom and strength more than we do today. The Grandmothers and Grandfathers love and protect us so we can do what we need to for all our Relations and the Generations to come. So it is in the great turning over, the mysteries of the renewing cycles of life, death and rebirth.

At this dark of the moon and dark time of the sun, you might light a candle for all those who have come before you, and all those who will come after you. To offer a prayer of gratitude and blessing for those in the Spirit realms who wait for and watch over us here, as a gesture of solidarity and power. This is the deeper meaning of feeding the Spirits, the trick-or-treating tradition. As we remember our unity across space and time, we claim the gifts of our legacy, the wisdom passed on to us. It lives in our cells and in our hearts. We can speak to our Ancestors and they will hear us, and we are together in spirit.

Know that in the great unfolding of Life on planet Earth, something great and marvelous is happening. We are evolving and co-creating a new world. It is arising out of the ashes of the old, as it always has been. Each of us is an essential player in the Great Renewal. It is time to take our place in the spotlight.

Sending you blessings of this new moon in Scorpio. I hope you take time to focus on personal renewal and regeneration at this most magical season. May you have courage and trust in Nature’s wisdom to let go of the old with ease. May you receive all the blessings and support of your Ancestors to midwife your own transformation and rebirth. May it help you navigate the portals of death with grace and light and find only beauty there.
