I’m so glad you will be joining me for the course, Assisting the Dying: What Practitioners Need to Know to be of Greatest Service at this Sacred Time of Life. Congratulations for answering the call and taking this next step on your Healer's Journey.
I have learned that the Universe responds whenever you take a step in the direction of your soul’s calling, so start to notice the signs and messages that can arise anywhere, in your dreams and in your waking life.
Here’s what you need to know to get here, and to prepare for your transformative experience on the magical island of Newfoundland.
Start and End Times: The Retreat starts with registration at 4:00 pm Friday, October 4. You may want to arrive a little earlier to settle in and get oriented. The Retreat ends at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 6.
Retreat Location: Killdevil Camp and Conference Center, Lomond, Newfoundand, Canada. If you are flying, the closest airport is Deer Lake, Newfoundland (YDF). Killdevil Camp is approximately 30 minutes from Deer Lake. Air Canada and WestJet fly into Deer Lake Airport. To get the best flights and prices, I recommend you book your flights right away.
Transport Options from/to Airport: You can book a rental car (recommended if you plan to extend your stay) or book a taxi. Sharing transport with other participants is also an option.
Directions to Lomond: From Deer Lake, take Route 430 (Viking Trail) north to Wiltondale (about 20 minutes). Turn left on Route 431 and drive for about 10 minutes to Lomond, a few minutes past Lomond River Campground. Turn right and drive about 3 minutes to the Killdevil Camp entrance on your right. It’s just before the Gros Morne National Park Campground Entrance Gate.
Accommodations: You will be staying in the Killdevil Lodge, an historic large two-storied building with meeting rooms and dorm style bedrooms, to the left as you drive in. Rooms are double occupancy with shared washrooms. Let me know if you wish to share with a specific person, otherwise roommates will be assigned. Towels are provided. If you are able, please bring you own bedding. Bedding will be provided for those who are flying or unable to bring their own. Please let me know if you require bedding.
Meals and Food: Three meals a day are included. Meals are Newfoundland camp style, hardy cooked dinners, soups and sandwiches, dessert, tea and coffee. While the staff will do what they can, there are limited local resources to provide for special dietary needs, ie. vegetarian, gluten or dairy free. If you have food restrictions please let me know. Due to severe allergies of some of the school children who may be on site at the time, please note this is a PEANUT FREE facility.
There are refrigerators in the dining hall and in the Lodge with 24-hour access for storing personal food items. The well water on site is great for drinking. Bring any special teas or snacks you might like for between meals.
Clothing: The average temperatures at this time of year range between a high of 15 degrees Celsius during the day and a low of 5 degrees at night. We will be spending some time outside so dress for warmth and comfort, i.e. layers, wool sweaters, wind and waterproof coat, hat, scarf and gloves, comfortable hiking boots or runners; inside shoes or slippers.
Contact: There is limited cellphone and WiFi reception at Lomond which makes it super easy to unplug, a real bonus for this Retreat! For emergency contact you may give my cellphone number, 709-660-2719 for calls or texts, or Malcolm Turner (camp custodian) at 709-636-2267; email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Other Things to Bring:
Flashlight (the camp is on a generator and lights may go out at night)
Your big curious child heart!
Again, I’m so glad you are joining me in this place of powerful ancestral and elemental energy. Together we will explore timeless shamanic wisdom and death rite practices that go straight to the heart of the Great Mystery.
Reading my book, Return to Pangaea, will get you in the perfect frame of mind to make the most of your immersion experience. Download your copy of Return to Pangaea here.
The Teleseminars will introduce you to some of the core shamanic concepts and practices at the Retreat. Mark your calendar for these times:
Tuesday, September 17; 8:00 pm Eastern Time
Tuesday, September 24, 8:00 pm Eastern Time
Tuesday, October 1: 8:00 pm Eastern Time
The topic of the first seminar is Initiation and Spiritual Awakening. You may be surprised to discover how life has prepared you for just this next step of your spiritual journey.
You will get the most from the teleseminars if you can join me live. You will get to meet other Retreat participants and there will be time for questions. In the event you cannot make the call, you will get a recording to listen to at your convenience.
I’ll be in touch again with details on how to join the Teleseminar.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll look forward to seeing you at our first Teleseminar on September 17th.
Til then, sweetest blessings on your journey,
